Workshop Terms and Conditions
By registering for or participating in an Appalachian Maker Studio workshop, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Registration & Payment Registration and payment are required in advance to reserve your spot. Workshop spaces are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Workshop fees include the materials and instruction described in the individual workshop listing. Food, beverages, and other purchases from the workshop venue are not included in the workshop fee. Registrant Cancellations & Rescheduling We understand that plans can change. Because Appalachian Maker Studio purchases supplies and prepares materials in advance of each workshop, the following cancellation policy applies: 48 hours or more before the workshop: You may move your registration to another day/time free of charge, transfer your spot to another person or receive a refund, less a $10 cancellation fee per person to cover materials and supplies. Less than 48 hours before the workshop: Registrations with this little notice are non-refundable as we are unable to make changes with our venue, materials or supplies at this stage. You may transfer your spot to another person at no additional cost. Why is there a cancellation fee? Workshop projects require materials to be purchased and prepared in advance, and each participant's materials are reserved specifically for their registration. The 48-hour cancellation policy allows us time to account for those materials and, when possible, offer the spot to another participant. Workshop Cancellations Appalachian Maker Studio reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to insufficient registration, instructor illness, severe weather, venue availability or other circumstances beyond our control. If Appalachian Maker Studio cancels a workshop, registered participants will receive the option to reschedule or receive a full refund. Arriving Late Please arrive approximately 10–15 minutes before the scheduled start time so you can check in and get settled. Workshops begin promptly at the scheduled time. Late arrivals may miss portions of the instruction or demonstration. For safety reasons, Appalachian Maker Studio may be unable to accommodate participation by someone arriving too late to safely complete the workshop. Safety & Equipment Some workshops may involve glass, sharp tools, adhesives, heat, cutting equipment, chemicals or other materials that require careful handling. Participants agree to: Follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor. Use materials and equipment only as directed. Ask for assistance when needed. Conduct themselves in a manner that does not create a safety concern for themselves or others. Appalachian Maker Studio reserves the right to stop a participant's activity or remove a participant from a workshop if their actions create an unsafe environment. Materials & Finished Projects All materials necessary to complete the workshop project will be provided unless otherwise stated in the workshop description. Because workshops are do-it-yourself (DIY), individual results may vary. Minor variations or imperfections are a natural part of the creative process. Appalachian Maker Studio cannot guarantee that a participant's finished project will look exactly like a sample or example shown in promotional materials. If a project is damaged during the workshop, we will make reasonable efforts to assist with correcting or recreating the project when time and materials allow. Workshop-Specific Requirements Workshop requirements, recommended ages, materials, safety considerations, and other special instructions may vary depending on the project. Food & Beverages Some Appalachian Maker Studio workshops may be hosted at venues where food and beverages are available for purchase. Food and beverages are purchased directly from and provided by the venue and are separate from Appalachian Maker Studio. Appalachian Maker Studio is not responsible for food or beverage service provided by the host venue. Allergies & Sensitivities Workshops may involve adhesives, vinyl, inks, glass etching products, heat, fragrances or other materials. Participants with allergies, sensitivities, or other concerns about workshop materials should contact Appalachian Maker Studio before registering. Any significant material or safety considerations specific to a workshop will be included in its description. Personal Belongings Participants are responsible for their personal belongings while attending a workshop. Appalachian Maker Studio is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Respectful Conduct We want Appalachian Maker Studio workshops to be welcoming, relaxed and enjoyable for everyone. Participants are expected to treat instructors, other participants, venue staff, equipment and property with respect. Appalachian Maker Studio reserves the right to ask a participant to leave a workshop if their behavior is threatening, abusive, excessively disruptive or creates an unsafe environment. No refund will be provided in cases of removal due to unsafe or inappropriate behavior. Participant Responsibility By participating in a workshop, participants acknowledge that hands-on activities may involve inherent risks associated with the materials, tools, equipment, and techniques used during the workshop. Participants are responsible for following all instructions and safety guidelines provided by Appalachian Maker Studio. Thank you for reading and we look forward to creating with you!
